Why the hell am I wide awake at 4:30 am?!? I woke up about an hour ago and haven't been able to fall back asleep. I finally got up and made myself a cup of chamomile tea, hopefully that will kick in soon. I have two theories about why I'm wide awake right now:
1. My extremely wonky sleep schedule during break messed up my energy cycles. After Christmas there were several days in a row that I slept ~10 hours. Following this was a few days where I slept ~4 hours.
2. My mind is abuzz with giddiness, anticipation for the weekend, and a little bit of paranoia that the past few days have just been a dream. |

So just after 10 I decided to turn on the TV to watch Futurama, as I had been doing most nights since the Daily Show has been on reruns. Then I realized that Futurama isn't on Adult Swim anymore. I probably should've realized this before since I watched a few episodes earlier in the evening on Comedy Central. This change is very weird, but hopefully it will benefit Futurama.
Caucus tomorrow! On the page to see where the local caucus is being held, there's a little google maps applet that shows the route from your address to the caucus location. But this applet doesn't recognize my address and gives me directions from 2565 Greenway Dr NE, Salem, OR 97301. So according to this applet, I'm driving halfway across the country to get to my caucus.
This winter break was freakin' amazing. I saw a lot of good friends, including a few I haven't seen in a long, long time. It was great. But I had to come back into work today :( Concentrating on work was really tough, when I just wanted to jump up and down with joy thinking about how great break was. Unfortunately, you can't jump up and down with joy when you have to sit in front of a computer for several hours working. So I had to settle for skipping in the hallway when walking in and out of the lab.
Addendum: praise science for LJ's autosave. I accidentally hit a link after I had this all written, and I nearly died of fright/annoyance. I'm waaay too tired right now to write the whole entry again. |

Well, except for the part where I hit the ball wrong and it flew off sideways and hit one of my teammates in the face, breaking his glasses. Oh well, it was still fun! |

I so fail at this whole Livejournal thing. Apparently two people listed me as a friend, and I didn't even notice. (Hi Belka and Dan!!!) Then I noticed that I didn't get an email or anything when i got friend'd. Is there any way to see if someone friends you other than obsessively checking your 'manage friends' page?
In another story, this weekend I was driving on highway 100, and I'm passing this car. I look over and see the woman driving take a big swig from one of those giant bud light cans. Classy. |

Just when I think I can't get any more absent minded...I go and wash my phone in the washing machine. This is worse than the day I accidentally washed my checkbook. I've also accidentally washed a pen, getting ink all over my clothes. I'm afraid of what I'll wash next. |

I'm surprised that I've never gone through the xkcd archives before. It's disturbing how many of them I can relate to. Like this one, I can't count how many times during college I was sitting at my computer at 2 am, my homework unfinished and ~15 firefox tabs open to various wikipedia pages. Though I could probably get a pretty good estimate by figuring out the number of days I was in college, and calculating 90% of that number.
Also, this one is brilliant. I need to figure out a good scheme for saving my favorites. |

So I went out shopping for a few things this evening, and I picked up something on an impulse. A few things rather. Books 2-6 of Harry Potter. I was given the first one, but never got around to reading the other ones. So since the final book is coming out this week, I decided I should finally try to catch up. Hopefully, I'll have enough discipline to stay away from fark, ytmnd, or any web forum until I finish them all. |

So a freaky thing just happened. I was browsing facebook at work, looking at some random groups, and I had just read a post by a dude named Andrew Toth. A second later the woman in the cube across from me (who coordinates where everyone’s desk is) was talking on the phone and said, “What about that Andew Toth fellow, he’ll be starting in July.” I was like, did she just say what I thought she said? So I went to his profile, and sure enough he’ll be working for Rockwell. Crazy. |

My sister got an internship in Iowa City for the summer. So I agreed to let her stay at my place for the days she was working. I found today that she will be moving in tomorrow. Looks like I'm going to have to stop strutting around the apartment naked :( |

| No More Noodles |

Since moving here to Cedar Rapids, one of my favorite places to go has been Nothing But Noodles. It was a great place to relax, enjoy a delicious meal (I usually got Pad Thai or Fettucine Alfredo), and read a good book. At lunch today, we were going to a nearby restaurant, and I noticed the Nothing But Noodles building had a new sign...for a pizza place. I stared incredulously for a few seconds as a slowly realized that Nothing But Noodles no longer exists here. It's weird, I was there just a week or two ago...and now it's just gone. It better be damn good pizza. |
